Extra Support

• Computer users may obtain free technical support from Protonic.com.
• A growing collection of frequently asked questions (FAQs), hints and tips on how to use your computer may be found at quikbits.
• The Linux Questions Forum is useful for new users that wish to know more about the underlying GNU/Linux operating system and do not wish to subscribe to an email discussion list.

Hardware

• Buildpc.net gives a lot of useful information about hardware and their configuration.
• Follow the url http://www.obsoletecomputermuseum.org for forum on upgrading and maintaining obsolete computer equipment.
• http://www.hwb.acc.umu.se gives links to pages on connector pin outs, which everyone always forgets how do.

Documentation

• The Linux Documentation Project is an invaluable source of reference for software needs.
• You may also wish to visit our Computer Sales page and follow the links associated with each of the software applications or programmes to view screenshots and locate further information.
• Visit Linux Home Networking if you wish to get into using GNU/Linux for home networking and setting up servers.

Community

• Perth Linux Users' Group Provides news, support, an email discussion list and events including monthly workshops and seminars.
• The Society of Linux Professionals (Western Australia) Inc is a professional association that assists computer consultants, business owners, or those that work in the public sector to use and promote open-source software including GNU/Linux.
• OpenSource WA works with government agencies and business to "investigate the potential opportunities afforded by the use of innovative software systems to drive interoperability and other efficiencies". OpenSource WA is also home to the Open Source Demonstration Centre.

Environment

• We "get in the loop" to:
  • reduce the amount of e-waste that goes into landfill by extending the life of the computer,
  • reuse decomissioned computer equipment that has been donated because of a corporate upgrade path, and
  • recycle components from non-functioning equipment by partnering with an e-waste group.
