2006 Annual General MeetingComputer Angels held their 2006 Annual General Meeting on Saturday 28 October. The AGM Meeting Minutes and President's Address are available. The meeting was held on the South Perth foreshore which was a good place to relax and enjoy the view and a barbeque picnic following the meeting.

Build Your Own Computer for National Science Week
Computer Angels is participating in National Science Week by hosting a workshop activity. If you would like to build your own computer and learn how a computer works, then join Computer Angels for a "Build Your Own Computer" session. One three hour session includes the refurbishment of a computer, installing the operating system (Debian GNU/Linux) and programmes/applications*, and running and testing the computer system. Includes morning tea and you get to take your fully-operational computer system home. When: Saturday 19 August 2006, 9.00 am - 12.00pm Where: Computer Angels, Unit 1/ 47 Tate St (Cnr Charles St), Bentley Cost: $50 (No cancellation or refunds but someone else may attend in your place if notified by 16 August 2006) Who: Anyone that wants to build their own computer. Children younger than 16 years must be accompanied by an adult. Harry and Jacqueline McNally were the guest speakers at this year's honourary members breakfast of the Golden Key International Honour Society, Edith Cowan University Chapter. The breakfast was held at the WA Club in Perth. Vice-president Natalie welcomed Harry and Jacqueline and introduced them to other guests. President Fiona began the formal proceedings with a talk about many of the activites and events that led to a very successful year for the Edith Cowan University Chapter, culiminating in the achievement of the Gold Chapter Standard.
Harry and Jacqueline shared the presentation of their talk, "Straddling the Divide" included what Computer Angels provides, computer literacy as opposed being trained to use specific tools, how Computer Angels got to where we are now, and when we will be finished. Each of the guests were provided with a set of Computer Angels brochures and the CD-ROM that was prepared for Software Freedom Day by the WA Department of Industry and Resources. Harry and Jacqueline were each presented with a speaker's gift which was found to be an ECU coffee mug. A special presentation of funds raised by the chapter was made by the Jenni, the ECU Chapter Graduate Advisor to Brother Ollie Pickett, whose group, Wheelchairs for Kids has provided 100s of wheelchairs to children in Vietnam that have lost limbs from landmines and polio victims in Papua New Guinea. Fiona closed the formal proceedings with thanks.
